Who designed the Electra ?

I can't find the Electra in the Stunt Bibliography.
Who designed it and when was it published ?
(not the Electra x-35, the one on the back cover of Stunt News)

I believe that it was Jerry Worth. I'm not absolutely positive about that though.

Dick Williams was the designer and builder of the Electra. For more information, get a back issue of Flying Models, April 1996, for the construction article.

Jerry Worth did the Electra X-35.

Yes, the Electra by Dick Williams is a beautiful, and great flying design. Mine, until it's untimely demise, due to a control failure, was one of the best flying stunters I've ever had the pleasure of flying.

I wrote the article in FM, and drew the plans. I was aided by the fact that one of my clubmates happened to have one of the few original sets of plans still in existence. I took great pains to make an accurate transition to CAD, but wasn't aware of an error on the original plans. One of the ribs out near the tips is not correct.

I've since corrected the error, and when working up the plans that Eric Rule of RSM uses to kit the design, I supplied him with corrected plans.

If you want to scratch build, either get the plans from Carstens and watch out for that rib, or me for the corrected set. I believe Eric is laser cutting his Electra kit and would highly recommend that you check with him as his kit price seems pretty reasonbable.

Dick Williams was flying in competition in the SoCal area with Palmer, Southwick, Herron, and the likes during the late 50's and 60's. On top of that, he's a fine gentleman and all around nice guy.

He flew at the WC in 64 if my memory is correct. I think he was the alternate and filled in when GMA couldn't make the trip.

This fine design was never published previously, and was almost lost to us. Sure am glad that one of the guys hung on to those original plans.

I'm wondering why everything is spinning around?
