Nylon glue

What's a good glue for holing two pieces of hard nylon together?

Depending on how good a bond, either "nothing" or CA.

To get as good a bond as possible, sand the surface with 600 grit, getting as good a mate as possible. Then wipe the surface with MEK, let it dry off, and use CA to bond it, and clamp it as soon as possible.

The resulting joint will be "iffy" at best, but for some applications may suffice. Should be pretty good under shear, but prying or pulling apart not so hot.

There is very good reason that the best solvent storage bottles are made of Nylon.

Frank Tiano, the Pacer RC man and distributor, says that any CA will cause nylon to crystalize and thus fail. Be alert.

Somewhere in the memory banks, it says that some kind of acid will bond nylon together...just doesn't say which acid. Maybe "carbolic acid"? This came from one of Ed Kazmirski's (Orion? Taurus?) articles in MAN. Steve

See my post on product reveiws about Pacer's Hinge glue. They claim it really sticks to nylon.

CA also crystalizes glass. Thought I would use it to glue my mirror back onto the windshield.....worked great for a month....then it fell off leaving a divit in the windshield!

I would try "Zappa Dappa Goo II". That stuff will even stick to a plastic tank.
