Anyone know if the flying is on schedule in Muncie?

We were thinking about going down for the top twenty on Friday.

I'm going. The weather looks better. There will be wind but no rain.

The 2004 schedule is posted on the AMA web site.

The worlds are from the 4th to the 10th of July. The NATS are scheduled to start the 11th with the unofficial events.

Qualifying for the top 20 just finished up today. We are waiting for the flight schedules (who goes when) which will be posted this evening. If I had a little more time I could post all the results from our circle. The other one was still running when we left. On our circle it took a 1063.25 to make the cut (10th place).

And if you think qualifying is easy, or that appearance points don't make a difference,
Dan Banjock missed the cut with a 1060.75 (total of two flight scores).
10th was Bill Suarez at 1063.25
9th was Richard Oliver at 1064.50
8th was Matt Neumann at 1064.75
7th was Konstantin Bajarkine at 1065
Top finishers in qualifying on this circle were
Ted Fancher at 1108.75
Todd Lee at 1094
Doug Moon at 1093.75
Windy Urtnowski at 1091.50 (flying the twin engine B-25)
Frank Williams at 1083
Bob Gieseke at 1074.25

Remember, this was just one circle. There are ten more to be added from the other circle. Then all these scores are wiped out and two flights are flown tomorrow and added together for final placement or determination for the top 5. (Those making the top 5 will have their scores wiped out again and they will fly on Saturday for final placement and determination of the ultimate winner.)

Great to see Windy & Bill Suarez in there. Also great to see 3 Texans!.. All members of the Dallas Club. Was Mike Scott in the other circle?... Anxious to see the rest of the results.

Poor Dan, I wonder where he would have place if there would hav ebeen no appearence points? I propose we give all entrants 20 "Pretty Points" in the complete NATS and just go fly the ...darn things! Just think if someone didn't like a P-51!!!!!!!!

Dan's airplane looks great. I didn't see how many points it got, but I'm sure it did well. If there were no appearance points, the planes would look like combat planes. Potential newcomers would would not be impressed by the pretty airplanes, as were current participants like me and Bill Werwage when we first saw them. They would think that stunt is not worth doing.

Some of the Houston flyers are also members of the Dallas club... Great Texas showing for sure!!!

Howard..Good show again! Congratulations.

I am also glad you bring up the point about appearance! The contraversy will never end. There are many of us that were attracted to the event for that very reason!

Hey Aaron - Had message on my posting "Any news from NATS?" that there were 26 Advanced fliers. Rob Gruber was leading the pack. Kent Tysor also flying in Advanced. No other standings in Advanced listed in any threads I can find. The AMA site had unofficial standings listed but they don't have anything for the Precision Aerobatics group (Open and Advanced) which we are interested in. If I hear hear anything else, will let you know. And you do the same.
