Pipe and PA plane recommendation for a R

I purchased a Rustler/Merco 40 which is just about broken in. Runs great and quite strong. Several models are now flying and some under construction but I am interested in getting into the piped ship realm in the 40 power range to stay with smaller birds and .015 lines etc. Since I already have the Merco;it seems logical to just add a pipe and plane and go from there. Nice thing about the Merco is the exhaust pipe can be mounted either side exhaust or rear exhaust. What pipes are light in weight, which are preferred, what is the Supplier's name and what would you recommend for a killer PA plane which must be constructed as a take-a-part to load up in a Lancair 360 airplane for travel?

BOB....Don't waste your time in trying to make a MERCO run at pipe RPM'S! ALL Mreco's love to run at low RPM'S and have alot of load on the prop. GET a OS-40 FP and try MY MAC'S pipe system on your plane that you have right now. You might just like it.

Well, in general I would agree, but the Rustler seems to be a different breed of cat. Ted ran his on a 10-4 Tornado 3-blade at about 10000 rpm in a 4-stroke - pretty much the same as the PA. It's more in the range of the Aero-Tiger (although not as powerful) than it is a Fox.

Whether a pipe is helpful or not on this engine is pretty debatable, however. The engine runs well without a pipe. and it's already very-well-behaved.

If an Impact will fit, I'd make an Impact. If you can find an OS .40VF, get a pipe from Randy Smith and you are in business. If not, Randy or Richard Oliver will fix you up with the whole power package.
