I'm currently building a Jamison Special for Old Time Stunt. Could anyone tell me if Bud ever flew it with wheel pants? If not would it be legal to fly it with them anyway.

Hi Larry-

I had a photo of Bud holding the model taken at the All Western Open in 1948. No pants on the model at that time. Wish I still had the photo!

In his book, "Pioneers of Control Line Flying", Charles Mackey published a photograph and a drawing of the Jamison Special. Neither the drawing nor the photograph show any kind of wheel pants.

This drawing was the source that Roy Condit used to generate full size drawings for the Jamison Special that Dennis Choate built which became the prototype for the RSM kit. That airplane built by Dennis was flown at the 98 Nats and placed for two people. Then at the 99 Nats, 5 or 6 flew it, with three of those taking the top three places.

The Jamison is a really nice airplane.
