Seeing the thread on zinc sterate below, made me think of this.....
Six or seven years ago, maybe more, I bought some zinc sterate from Randy Smith at a local contest. At the time, Randy just had it in a sandwich "baggie". Our local (40 miles away) Hobby Shop mgr., Alan, has been a PAMPA member for years and flies C/L as well as other types, and we have been friends for quite a while. A fine elderly gentleman came in his shop and bought a Ringmaster kit and a Fox 35, said he used to fly as a youngster. He asked Alan if anybody near him flew C/L. Well it turns out I lived less than 5 miles from the gentleman so Alan gives him my phone number. The gentleman (retired executive from "up North") came over to visit the shop (basement
)
and we had quite a good time. He made several comments about all the "stuff" we had. All of a sudden I noticed him eyeing the
"baggie" (full of fine "white" powder) sitting beside a gram scale (used for weighing balsa of course) and suddenly started saying his "goodbyes". Haven't heard from him since. Aaron, and I had a pretty good laugh after we summised what he must have been thinking!
