After spending some time researching the Showman's birth date....(pre 1967 for sure, and probably pre 1960 ) for someone on this list, I thought I'd grab a kit and build it. I built my last one in 1971, so this was a trip down memory lane for me and was rather fun...
I've powered it with a PAW 1.49/Tornado 7x6 and covered the fuselage with red modelspan (real old English tissue) and double covered the wing with light weight white modelspan/Airsail dope. It got a coat of 'Epivar' two pot polyurethane, in case I want to use a glow motor at a later date, (OS 10LA)
I built it in two days (hey, it's my job}> )and flew it today in perfect conditions. What a huge buzz it gave me, just like being 13 again, but with a few more skills than back then (If I only knew then, what I know now... )
Pic below has the standard 24" Showman and my bigger 36" version (not a kit.......yet..
