Is there time?

I do enjoy the forum and am willing to register since Leonard says he likes us to. However, I have registered twice so far ("rustler" since that's my trading name) and after being registered for a couple of days each time have subsequently fallen out of the system and become unregistered again. I was not going to bother to register a third time but if it's going to be necessary in order to take part in future, anyone got any advice? I haven't noticed any advantage in registering, what's it all about? I'm starting a new topic for this since it might get lost in the 57 other replies on this! Best wishes to all, Ian R.

Ian, you won't be able to post, bookmark or edit, to name a few things. I'm still trying to understand what the trouble has been for so many people with the registration process. Mine has been trouble free from the beginning. E-mail Leonard and he can set things up for you.

It seems that a few CL folks are less than fully computer literate and end up with multiple separate registrations. After a single registration, that step is never repeated. Logging in is what you do when the system logs you out, or when you do so.

Right now, there is both a "RUSTY", and a "rusty", probably the same messager. There is only one "Rustler", but your account is certainly still on file.

The software that SSW's forum runs on is complex, but not foolproof.

Among other things, often it's unable to read back some of the last several cookies that it stored on a user's system. When that happens, you have to log in again. Just remember the password.

I have had to log in a couple of times over the past several weeks, I just figured some change was made on one end or the other that wouldn't let the software read the cookie. No big deal unless I forget my name

Anytime this happens I go into the user menu and update my preferences. I don't change anything just click on the Update button, this installes a new cookie and I am good until it happens again.

Dose it take that much work on your fingers to register? time to grow up and get with WHAT the fourm host wants. IT'S NO BIG DEAL. We want all control line people here (and others). We all need each other. With out stuka stunt what would we have......

He did register Scott, but the system logged him out & he didn't realize that all he needed to do was log back in. It has done that to me several times (logged me out) but it wasn't a problem because I knew what to do.

Ian, I checked and your account of rustler on the forum is there, no problem. Apparently you merely got logged off. All you need to do is log on with your user name of rustler and password. If your preferences are set to remember your password then it should leave you logged on. Just leave when you are finished and do not log out. That way you will be logged on whenever you return.

If you forgot your password, you can either request a new (random) one through the forum or e-mail me back and I can set the pasword to whatever you want.

Oh, and I tried to e-mail you using the e-mail address by which you were registered, but it came back to me. So, when you log in, it would be good to update your e-mail address as well.

Thank you Leonard and everyone else. Will try to set prefs to "leave logged on" and we'll see what happens.
Len, I have only ever had the one e-m address in my life, still We've had trouble communicating by e-m before. We usually do it through a third party, Bob K? Speaking as an unashamed ignorant non-nerd, is it possible our respective companies are not talking to each other?

Maybe you are like me, I sometimes clean out my computer and defrag several times per week. If you delete your computer's cookies, you will have to log back in.
