Curious Photo

Stunt News July/Aug on pg 99 (Spain News) shows an ad for a contest in Portugal. The curious part is they show a model called "Kan Doo". This is a British stunter designed by Pete Cock, and it won the 1948 British Nats. Does this mean that the Spaniards don't have an indiginous model to show?

Kan Doo has been referred as "Kan't Doo". But this is incorrect. The model is an agile performer if built light. Mine weighs 13.6 oz with an OS15. I built mine just to prove to my friend Ron Prentice in Taunton that British stunters were really ugly back then.

Has anyone else built a Kan Doo?

Floyd, I should point out that Portugal and Spain are two different soverign countries with different languages. As to why the Kan Doo is used on the flyer, I couldn't say; but they have used it for at least a couple of years. Rusty Brown went to the contest last year, I think. I suppose you have seen the exposition on the Kan Doo on Dave Day's website. Also, I wonder about you building one with an OS Max 15 glow rather than some diesel. I have thought about building one, but because you have done so, I don't have to. May do it anyway.

Jim. I love the diesels, and I have several C/L models with PAW and replica Elfins. The OS15 is simply the smoothest and most reliable small glo engine I have ever experienced. My Kan Doo is built ultra-light, with profile fuselage of 1/4" balsa sticks covered with 1/16" sheet. The Kan Doo plans show a 1/4" PLYWOOD fuselage! Can you imagine!

I actually entered Kan Doo in a recent VSC. I didn't win, maybe because my white tennis outfit was in the laundry at the time.
