I am currently enjoying the prop-carving video you sent last week, thanks. Other than the subject matter, quite interesting in and of itself, I particularly enjoy the--what is the word?--raw nature of your production. Yes, colorful language, outright admission of mistakes, background clutter and so on.

At the moment I am using an Eather 12.5 x 5 three-blade CF prop obtained from Tom Lay. Best prop so far for my Impact and Saito 56.

BUT, I do have several Zinger 14-5 props in my stash. Thanks to your contribution, they are in serious danger of being mutilated beyond recognition.

However, my Prather pitch gauge took a hike several years ago; I can only hope the new owner gags on sanding dust, never again visits my shop.

Any ideas from you or others concerning currently available pitch guages? There was word a couple months ago that Tom Morris was selling some, but it turned out he had merely loaned booth/table space to the producer.

Al Resinger has a really cool design, but I don't believe he has elected to make them available.

Say, Ted is dabbling in cottage-industry offerings with his handle, why not expand to pitch gauges?

Hi Dan, Dub Jett and I are working on producing one now. I can not give you a date yet but I intend for this to be the first Stunt pitch gauge. It will do up to 16" props and will have the pitch markings etched into the metal by the CNC machine for consistency. May be a little on the pricey side but it will be right. I already have several people who have spoken for one of the first batch, probably no more than 20.

Those Pizza Cutter wheels look an like Glenn Lee's wheels. Gleen is a speed flyer in our club and has been selling these for years.

I made mine. It's from an old magazine article that Jim Hoffman sent me years ago. The Hooptie pitch gauge. Not real hard to make.

But as things go, if you make a metal CNC etched pitch gauge, count me in too. Mine works fine, but is really only good for props up to 12" or a bit over.

Me too.

The numbers are all worn off mine. I can't hardly see station 14. You should sell a bunch.

Count me in as well. The uncalibrated Mk5 eyeball isn't as good as it used to be.

Check out the August 1975 Issue of Model Aviation on page 32. There is a great article titled "Your Propeller & You" by John F. Kilsdonk. John goes into great detail on hoe to build a Pitch Guage and includes drawings and plans. The result appears to be as good as a Prather Pitch Guage.

The Alabama back woods prop pitch guage that I have - that is built by Rollin Keszler is both easier to make and probably a bit more accurate. I find it to be more accurate than the Prather that I used to borrow from Curtis.

HI Jim. When Jim was in our club (he was the pres), we got our pitch gauges from RK. He, RK, is going to register, as he told me tonight at our monthly meeting. His pitch gauges are simplicity itself and they work.
