Lordy Paul and Gordy

I spent the weekend flying the Shear panic with the new Saito 72 I just broke in. I decided I was going to switch the "program" somewhat after the what I saw from Gordon's Saito 72 at the Nats. This was further clarified by watching the videos from the NW Regionals and seeing PW and the new P-51 with said Saito 72.

Lots of stuff still left to try, but let me just say I have never felt ANYTHING LIKE THAT IN MY WHOLE LIFE.

Flies faster but yet so much easier. Just point it and it will go. the lines look like carbon fiber rods. Totally immune to conditions (airplane wise, not run wise). Solid. I'm giddy.

Thanks guys. that is the most FUN I have had flying in maybe a year or two. I'm pumped.

It really did look good in the air Saturday. It will be interesting when you move the setup over into the Mr. Hyde. Could change A LOT! And, thanks for your help with my setup. That last flight really seemed to be a lot better in many ways. Did you think any more about the 3-blade prop you were suggesting I try? I did not get to fly today, but I hope to wring it out tommorrow.

What was the final pitch setup you were using one the 4-S? Cool!

Different set up but excellent results. I put the Bolly 14.25 x6 c/f
2 blade prop on the Laser 200 with Saito .72 9200 rpm and well lets
just say WOW. Line tension everywhere tracks easily, turns crisply.
Does not appear to fly any faster but with much more ease. I thought
that the wider blade type props Ie Old Top Flite would give more tension than a Bolly that has relatively narrow tips. However the
Bolly is 1/4 " larger in diameter and produces 400 more rpm.
Is it the diameter or the RPM that makes this prop more effecient?
Or is it both?

Brad what are the specifics of the changes you are making with the
Saito set up? Venturi,prop diameter,pitch # of blades etc? Thanks

Its the prop in general. The extra RPM keeps the engine "in the game" better.

Paul Walker (the good Walker) setup, with some Gordy thrown in.

It appears that Paul has really come up with a completely different animal (shocker). Funny thing is that we were so close on everything, set up wise. I guess it is the little things, huh?

I am hesitant to go into a lot of specifics because I think it will just confuse most everyone. Just suffice to say that everything is the same except the RPM is in the mid 9000's and the prop is a Bolly 13-5.0 three blade.

I think you will find emulating Walker's setup to be much like shooting at a moving target. My man, the NW Regionals was a couple months of good flying weather back in history. The P-51 is better now. Trust me.
