Muffelers for older engines

I have three engines, from when I was flying cl back in the early 60's (I'm a retread), that need some kind of muffeler. They are a k&b Stallion 35, a green head Torpedo 35, and a McCoy 35. None have ears, so should I use some kind of strap on tounge muffeler or what?

Check with our host! Leonard has strap-on tongue muffler for K&B Greenhead. Not sure about McCoy.

Leonard *definitely* has mufflers for the McCoy 35 red head. I've got three such engines, and three mufflers from Leonard! You'll have to make your own strap. I made mine from stainless steel "boot clamps" from Murray's Auto parts.

I don't know. Maybe we should try, "What". The Green head muffler should fit the Stallion also, I believe, and I do have them for the Green Head and the McCoy red head.

Do you still have the "Tea Kettle" mufflers for the Max 35S and 40H? Those are great little mufflers.

The Teakettles are great. I'm afraid I'm the one that stuck this name onto them, much to Len's regret...

Quiet, minimal power loss, nice attaching technique.

Have one on a Magician/OS 35-S. Flew it yesterday. Currell

Preferably a tongue muffler.

They are gone these days. I bought the last of the lot out of England, so, unless someone shows up with one on e-bay (hmm, why didn't I think of that) they are probably gone "forever".

Sounds like the teakettles would be a winner for someone to manufacture....

Anyone have a picture of them? I've heard 'teakettles' before but haven't seen them.

Mccoy and Stallion (and Merco and Veco) all have same stacks - Greenhead is a tad shorter - a Merco silencer will fit all (Ian Russell has them).

I have been using tongue mufflers for most engines. Now I have a S.T. 51 customized by Tom Lay. Tom doesn't like tongue mufflers because they don't really decrease the dBs very much, and they cause heating on the exhaust side of the piston. So I am also looking for a lightweight tube muffler for the S.T. 51. The stock S.T. muffler is just too heavy!

Just as a by-the-way.... I have seen a Merco35 muffler fitted to a G21-35, was told it needed no modification at all.
