Thanks for All the Help and Encouragemen...

Thanks to everyone here that has offered help and encouragement during the construction phaase of the new Tool of Choice. To ALL posters of methods and suggestions to others as well as myself.

Here are some pix of the new SV40. This is a half and half Vector kit and scratch build. Wing was scratch, alot of fuse was kit except blocks. Stab is built-up. Pretty much to plan.

Finish is nitrate and silkspan, talc filler, WEST 410 fillets, and PPG Omni AU automotive basecoat/clearcoat system. (special thanks to Godzilla for talking me through the finish stages)

Powerplant is ROJett 40 Bar stock. Rich Oliver has been VERY supportive and helpful during the installation and initial flying. The engine isnt quite broken in yet but plane is flying full patterns now in a solid 4 cyc with a Tornado 11-4. 5.2 sec laps on 64' eye to eye. It is very powerful. I cant wait to get the right prop on thos combo--but I'm proceeding slowly.

Decided to add a scoop to the cowl bottom just to cover the header--it comes out exactly flush with the cowl bottom but I was afraid if I just left it in a slot, someone would pick the plane up, get burned, and pitch the plane!

Great looking plane, and you're gonna love that RO-Jett! I've been flying mine since late April, and I think it is just now getting really broken in.

No muffler, hmmm?? How's the noise? I guess the header will quiet it some. They do make headers with less rise, by the way, which would get it a little closer to the tank.

This is a header/muffler. Richard puts a small insert into the end with some holes in it internally I think. It is about the same as a loud tongue muffler.

I,m not sure I'de want it much closer to the tank.

Well, the McCoys lap it up like mother's milk, FWIW! I plan to bring some half A silliness to Randy's Saturday evening (would you believe a Swordsman 18 ), but I don't think I will be able to build a workable model and learn the pattern by then ).
