O.K. I got my new PA 65 all broken in, and the modifications to my airplane are nearly complete for the transition from the ST 60. I do have a few questions.

Everyone in Dallas is using plastic tanks, and the standard setup is to plumb the suction vent to the pipe pressure. This setup works extremely well, there is no doubt.

My airplane was set up for the metal tank with uniflow. The fuel pickup is 5/8” off the beams; will this be an appropriate height for the PA 65?

Is pressure better? I am tempted to try uniflow without pressure, even though I always used it on the ST 60. The PA 65 should draw fuel extremely well; the case compression is incredible. If I tap the pipe for pressure, where do you tap it?

I don't have a 65, but Phil Granderson's runs fine set up as per the instructions. Just try that first, then fly it for a while to see if you like it. The only thing I suggest is to not immediately go for the largest prop you can spin. This is different animal from the ST60. You have way more performance than you need, so you don't need to push it to the max.

The locals can probably supply better specifics for your area. My engines have always worked best on uniflow open to the air.

WELL.......Maybe you should send the set up to ME and I'll see how to make it work. It might take me a couple of YEARS to let you know on how it worked. Hope you smiled. Scott
