Pad for mounting tank

Just finishing up my ARF F/S. All I had left to do was mount the tank, but I didn't have a rubber or cork pad to go between tank and nose. I found a pair of the wife's old sandels that had a soft rubber like sole. Used the band saw to cut out a piece and sliced it into thinner sections. Seems to have worked great, and there is enough rubber in the soles that I will have tank pads for many planes to come..Now I can go this afternoon and see how it flies... Bill Smith

If one uses double-sided tape, the sort with 1/16" (or so) of foam rubber sandwiched between the adhesive, you've got the tank stuck in place plus a certain amount of isolation. Which most of us totally eliminate by wrapping super-strength rubber bands between attachments on fuselage and tank.

Can also use the cheap foam shoe insert! Just cut to size!

Should that be a new or old insert?

Smitty, I hate to say this, but women DON'T have old shoes like men do!! God help you if or when she finds out what you did to one of her shoes. Dogs have been shot for this you know. Women collect shoes and hand bags like we do engines.

A fine source for smooth ~1/8" rubber is one of those flat sink stoppers. Rubbermaid.. Cut easily with scissors or razor blade.
