2001 Sig Contest

81 flyers from 11 states and Canada entered the 2001 SIG C/L CONTEST. They enjoyed perfect weather on Saturday
(sunny and very light wind). Sunday was also sunny, but with a 10-15 mph hot south wind. It was a fun weekend! After the
BBQ on Saturday night there was a great fireworks display to celebrate SIG's 50th anniversary in the model airplane business.
On Sunday, fellow C/L stunt flyer and EAA employee Shawn Elliott flew in the EAA's full-scale replica of the SPIRIT OF ST.
LOUIS. Whoa! That was WAY COOL!!

Hi Mike,

How's it going? Great to see that the SIG fly in is starting to get a great turn-out. I might even get there myself if a possibility of a job comes through for me at Scott AFB. It's no suprise to me that Todd Lee was the Expert Winner. He WILL win the nationals, maybe this year? I watched him fly an awsome pattern to win the KOI in 97 or 98 or possibly both years in about a 25 knot wind.

Jim,
Like you I have no doubt that Todd will win several Nats during his career. With his love of the sport and a wonderful new wife/coach named Ami (Adamisin), who by the way also competed at the SIG Contest this year, Todd is going to keep getting even better. Top that off with the fact that Todd now lives near and practices at the same field with Bill Werwage!!!

Todd has been flying at the SIG Contest since he was a small boy. It's been a pleasure to watch him grow into a great competitor and a super gentleman. A real credit to our hobby! (Jim and Lila - Ya done good!)
