BAHRMAN's CARDINAL 123kb/126kb

I just got the above in my email inbox. Actually, three of them. It could be that our Bahrman is sending a picture of a new Cardinal, but I don't know him, never traded emails, nothin'. I'm wondering if this is another #%*&@#!+ virus, and not wanting to find out. Steve

No, this is Greg Bahrman, from Simi Valley California who is new to the forum. He is probably sending you something you would want to know about.

I dunno why the entire subject line didn't appear. It shoulda read "BAHRMAN'S" (which was the "from") and "Cardinal" (which was the email's subject line), and I also added the 123kb/126kb file size. None of that came through on the thread's subject. Probably html mysteries. Edit: I added the subject info as originally intended.

I'm gonna go an open the email. But I wanted to see if anybody else has gotten the same. FYI, if folks send me photo of their models and expect me to post them on the NW Skyraiders website, it's not gonna happen. If you show up at one of our contests or Fun Fly's, ok. Otherwise, the way I see it, it's for club members airplanes. If it really is a picture of Greg's Cardinal, I'll reduce the file size and come back and post it. If it's a virus and my computer is fubar, I won't be around for awhile! Steve

Edit: It was a photo of a nicely reworked Cardinal, as Leonard predicted! Unfortunately, the other 2 photos went in the recycling bin before I had the courage to open this one. If you're gonna send photos, please give a warning email with no attachments!

PS: The Brodak Cardinal is a superb flier, but asthetically impaired. It can look really great with a little bit of rework, tho...like Greg's.

I certainly understand your fear Steve. I never open anything from anyone unless I see there name in the subject heading. even have a signature to that effect that goes out with any email I send. Too many kooks out there determined to ruin everyone's fun.

By-the-by....that is a beautiful ship.

Greg, send me the pics again, and I'll crop and compress them and put 'em up on this thread. Sorry for the hassle, but everybody's a bit jumpy with the virus emails going around. I probably shovel 100 a day into the hopper. Steve

PS: I've wanted to ask if you're related to George Bahrman, who used to be in SCAT Club?

EDIT: Done deal. The one thing that worries me, is the torsional stiffness of the flaps. At this stage, I would suggest covering with another layer of silkspan, or maybe carbon mat.

I'm less concerned with the torsional stiffness of the flaps than I am with the flap hinges. That is masking tape, not duct tape, and will probably give out within one or two flights.
