Coming into work tonight I was delighted to see a B-17G doing low level passes up and down the St. Claire River

. The river separates Port Huron Michigan from Sarnia, Ontario Canada. Beautiful example of one of Boeings finest. Only disappointment was it did not go inverted even once, no figure-eight's, nor clover-leafs

...what's with that? Think they were still working on "stunt trim", ....thought I saw a clear trim tab on the right wing. Was running four stroke power also, ...Pratt and W something or other.

I saw it this morning. It has no trim tab, so the one you saw must be another. There were two B-17s in Seattle recently. Dave Gardner got a ride in one, the EAA's Aluminum Overcast. The Collings Foundation has "909", painted just like Mr. Walker's. It landed at Boeing Field last year as Paul was flying his nearby. We went over to where it was on display and bought out their supply of T shirts and hats.

Mr. Walker's will be at the Nats next week. Unshackled from the FAI noise rules, he has done considerable development this year, and it now flies and sounds better than ever.

Wish I could attend the Nats, but it's not to be this year. Seeing the "909 bomber crew" at work would be a sight for sure.

Not yet. The next flight will be at the AMA site, about half a mile from the nearest tree, so I guess we're out of the woods, so to speak.

I saw a B-17 fly over Bend, Oregon last week. Way cool! It was probably the one that Dave G. got a ride on. I know they were selling rides on it but they were a little out of my price range.

The high point of my (full scale) flying experience was the chance several years ago to ride from our home FBO to Richmond on Sentimental Journey, the gorgeous CAF B-17. The captain was an MEI, and due to our FBO's generous fuel donation, I was able to fly it for .5 from the right seat and get it logged as dual in my book!

We had a B-17 and a B-24 here this weekend for an air show/Elmendorf AFB open house. The B-17 was impressive, as was the B-24, but I really enjoyed watching a civialian Air Show team from the Chicago area flying T-34's. They were outstanding! The six of them flew very good, tight formations and maneuvers at altitudes and speeds that the spectators on the ground could really appreciate.

I finally know where "Beer Can Cove" is. I was in town when the Nenana River flooded in the spring of '68.

Yep. The pilots were extremely gracious and forthcoming and rightly proud of their self supported group.
