Doodle Streak

I am just finishing up modifying my ARF Flite Streak. I have replaced the tail feathers with a stab/elevator that is 2.5" more span and 1/4" added to the elevator chord.

The idea is to improve both the turning power and dampening in corners so that I can get sharp corners without that bobble and hunting. Much along the lines of the Doodle Bug series designed by Mild Bill.

Did you use 1/8 thick wood? I found that using 1/4 thick wood helped the plane fly smoother.

I went up to rock hard C-grain 3/16". I needed tail weight anyway, so why not put it into structure?

I have flown the modified model a bit now, and am very pleased with the results. I think one could go even farther than I did. The turning ability is improved, as is the stability exiting a corner. I am still working on the trim, but the potential is great!
