Got out to my favorite, local airfield yesterday evening after work. The soccer and little league seasons are over!! I guess they cannot handle the heat of summer. This is good, cuz my airplanes and me certainly can, and certainly benefit by increased flying time. The maintenance crew keeps the grass in near 'golf-green' condition. Landings are smooth, take offs are realistic...totally cool.
Just a note to all that has at one time considered, or are thinking of building a Brodak 38 Special. If you build one, the fruits of your labor will be well rewarded! (two wings to build, alignment, etc) That airplane flies with such grace and beauty, is rock stable, groves very well, and turns with amazing accuracy, especially for a bi-plane. With an FP. 40, Stuka tube muffler (for extra power) and scimitar 11x6 prop, I can fly on bona-fide 70 ft. lines with good line tension maintaining a comfortable 5 second lap time...the airplane almost 'floats' through it's maneuvers, and if you listen carefully, you can hear the air whipping across it's wings and control surfaces....
What a beautiful plane to fly! I highly recommend it!
