Kilsdonk Memorial Pictures

On Sunday September 14 2003, the second annual John Kilsdonk Memorial Control Line Fly In was held at the Midwest RC field in Northville Township Michigan. Attendance was excellent. My unofficial estimate is that at least fifteen pilots flew a wide variety of aircraft. And although the fun was cut short around 3:00 pm by a line of thunder showers, a lot of flying got done anyway, in what were very tricky, windy, conditions. Here are photos of Curt Nixon's "Impertinent", Bob McDonalds "Thunderbolt", Lou Scavone's "Shoestring", and John Paris' Goldberg "Shoestring". Just some of the many fine ships that showed up. I was particularly impressed by the easy starts and excellent engine runs enjoyed by most pilots. These folks make what can be tricky look easy.

Nice pics. However, next to such nice airplanes, I feel quite out of place. One of these days I will have to enter the digital age and buy a new camera.

It was a fun get together..I got there a bit late...about 45 minutes prior to the CB's ...It was soooo turbulent! Really was concerned for the safety of the plane..and that was just level flight.

Good turn out also...Big John would have been proud.
