Any forums for other disciplines?

It was nice to see the thread started by "Preston" regarding combat techniques for engine starts. His input got to wondering if there are other forums similar to SSW where those who specialize in other disciplines hang out. Speed, racing, combat, carrier, etc.

Anybody got some hot links?

Consider the number of views of the aforementioned thread and any other thread, where the aforementioned participants have been active and I think you'll see that this group has exciting, active, productive, informative discussions, which draw the interest of many.

Certainly not boring in any way to this reader. Don't hesitate, please.

Sorry 'bout that. Some time back there was some discussion of "too much technical stuff" in some of the SSW threads. For a while after that I sort of warned in advance if the material was going to be anything more technical than what glue to use where. This was just a knee jerk throwback to an earlier time.

I know full well that many share my fascination with what makes these things work. Glad you both share that interest.

I don't know of any forums for racing, but there's lots of

I have a number of folders in my Mac labeled "Ted", "Brett" "Len", "Bob" (Hunt), Igor (burger) and some other guys whose advice i take at face value.

I cherish and study all the stuff I keep there.

Bobby was amazed at how much of his writings I have stored in my HD.

You might be in for the same surprise...

Ted, there is an AMA website which has links to a number of forums. There is also a CL links website which someone will give you the link to.

So far as technical stuff goes, post it and those as don't care for it are not forced to read it.

Keep it coming, Ted! I don't yet understand all of the things you guys talk about, and I certainly can't apply all of it(yet). But, like Ion, I have a thick file of printouts of your writings to refer to. Let the grumpers grump. Anybody who won't listen to NATS nad World champions talk about their sport....Well, I can't figure why not. I wanna know this stuff.

Combat-L is a mailing list (i.e. you get the messages via email), although you can set it up so that you read the messages on a web site instead.

Don't expect anything like the sort of traffic you find here. As I've said many times in the past, Combat people don't have nearly as much to talk about as Stunt people. Perhaps a good thing too, since it's an email list.

If you're looking for model airplane discussion of all types, rather than just CL, there's the granddaddy of them all, rec.models.rc.air, on Usenet. I posted on there for many, many years and I felt that it was good to have a CL presence there. A small number of very vocal whiners, though, which tends to spoil it for everyone.

This is an online model club, one of the earlier forums, which I started. It is a general CL site. For sometime it had a heavy Northwest participation. Now it has developed an international flavor, with a lot of English, Australian, etc., members.
