Bill Riegel Field

The event starting tomorrow in Salem I would like to go, but I will not be able to make both days. I would like to see a event first hand and ask lots of questions. I have never tryed in any of the events. I'm just a beginner. I have a Tanager profile that flys with a TTiger pro .46, throttle set at about 3/4 throttle that does about 5 sec laps. I have not been able to fly any patterns, but can go inverted, do loops, wing overs and am able to fly hoz. figuer eights. My ship is not the best looking one as it has been repaired from a inverted hard landing. repaired and repainted, but blisters on some of the top wing from sweat from my head that driped on it while spraying the paint. I haven't had the time to redo the paint job so apperance points are out of the question, but I read from your posts that is not in force as a beginner. I don't think I could fly there as I'm not yet a AMA member yet. But might bring my plane anyway. What day would you recommend to attend. Thanks!

1) You can join AMA at the field, unfortunately, it is not pro-rated and this is the end of the flying season, pretty much, in the PNW.
2) Beginner is on Sunday Oct. 12, and should fly early, like 9am.
3) I had the date posted wrong on the NW Skyraider's website, which I think was a holdover from early in the year, when the date was listed as tentative, because the site was not really expected to be available. Sorry for any inconvenience I may have caused, and I wish each club would proof-read the danged thing and report errors. If you got your info from someplace else, then I probably got my info from the same source.
4) Last time I posted an update of the Events and Home pages, both disappeared, but the new page didn't appear, which is a total mystery, and makes me less likely to try to update anytime soon. I plan to put my box in the shop (they host our website) while I am gone to the Salem contest. Maybe they can figure out why it did that. The remaining dates are correct, AFAIK.

Thanks Bruce, Hope to meet you there. Jerry Eichten came to help me one night to show me some pointers. He flew my Tanager. What a great guy!

Greg and All the other C/L Pilots coming to Salem Next Weekend,

Everyone is invited to my house on Saturday after the contest that day for eating and drinking mass quantity. Rain or shine (hopefully the latter) I'll have directions at the contest.

And as tradition requires, Mike Hazel will be grilling hambergers and Brats (maybe hotdogs of unknown origin) on Sunday at Lunch. All the trimmings and drinks included. Contributions appreciated but not required.

Are there any vegetarian CL pilots? If so, my sympathy goes out to you. There will not be any Boca Burgers on my grill.
