Actually we have been flying this contest for years, but this is the 1st year that Jerry wasn't there. Jerry passed away this year at the Nats and we miss him. His son Greg flew one of his planes and his wife showed up. We had a beautiful day despite adverse predictions. Glenn Lee donated the largest trophy I've ever seen and the rest of the crowd had a great time. Tim Stone won the Racing trophy, about 4' tall and the carrier guys had a lot of fun too. We missed Jerry at this one as we have all summer.
I'd like to thank Fred Krueger and the others for preparing the site, it was perfect.

Here's 3 pics from the event: Tim Stone with the first place racing trophy and Gerry's picture; most of the participants; and Bill Calkins launch of his Class II? carrier plane (Peter Mazur launching). Gerry's wife Phyllis and his son Gregg are in the front row by the trophy.

I'll post a few more tomorrow.

Too many airplanes - too little time.

Actually that was my Class I plane. Great shot though. Kind of shows the acelleration that we have. I don't hold my hand out pointing like that for very long, probably less than a second.
