Mozilla works!

A while back, we were discussing the difficulty of saving complete web pages, with their graphics files.

Subsequently, I've switched over to Mozilla as my web browser, and discovered that it, unlike I.E. and Netscape, properly saves complete HTML pages with their graphics. The graphics files are automatically saved in a subdirectory.

It's a free download, has a popup defeater, a better news reader, it's a faster and better version of Netscape..

Whatever happened to Steven Wright? I haven't seen him on the tube for quite a while.

Yeah, I remember that this was one of the nice things about the old Netscape. I was a diehard Netscape user until ver. 3.11 which was SO incredibly unstable, and at that point I was forced to switch to IE, which I didn't like at all.

I must say I really like IE now, though.

Netscape 7.02 = Mozilla 5, more or less. These things all work in Netscape 7.02/Mac OS X as well - which is a pretty big improvement over most earlier versions of Mozilla - which I could never get to work at all on any Mac OS! It's still mighty bloaty compared to Safari, Opera, iCab, etc.

Safari 1.0 also saves web pages properly. But no newsreader, so I still use Netscape for that.

I've been a diehard Netscape user since version 2. Almost gave up on it a couple of times and even tried Mozilla. Most of my problems seemed to be not being able to create mail filters.

Since upgrading to v7.1 Netscape - everything works! Really cool is the multiple tabs which you can work on separate web sites while only having one browswer window active.

Main reason I avoid IE and Outlook are the viruses (virii?) which are primarily written to attack IE.

More recently I've been a good boy about installing Microsoft patches, and there have been 2 or 3 for OE. I noticed that now OE takes a noticeable amount of time to fetch up and display a selected message. I don't know what it is off doing - perhaps being more secure.

It also takes some time for it to close on exit from Windows - I get the little window saying that one of its DLLs is still closing. Perhaps it is being more secure in closing too.

When I started the net odyssey, I tried several browsers but stuck with I.E. for two reasons--it was free (Cheap! Cheap!) and it was much easier to categorize and organize my bookm, er, Favorites.

I did NOT like O.E., however, and used Eudora Light, which was the email program supplied on the 3½" floppy setup disc my initial ISP provided. I still use Eudora and do not have problems unless I open attachments without their being scanned by the AV Software first. I guess I believe that by using an email client other than that contained in the browser software, I cut down on the potential of those viral attacks. It works for me.

My processor is a g3 400mhz.

OSX is kinda heavy for my mac, so I stuck to 9.1.

What kind of Mac you have?

I've been using Mozilla and a version of it called Firebird (a stand alone browser) for years. I've always been happy with it. The newer version 1.5 is great. Of course, I'm not a Windows guy, so IE was never an option.
