Shark

After so many great replies about my Shark post, I have a question.
Does anyone have, or knows where to get, drawings for the Shark +10?

Yea, I like to know what canopy was used and, apart from the loss of a turtledeck, what other changes were made to this plane. If it's a stock Shark, 10% bigger with just the loss of turtledeck and a bubble canopy, great. That can be done for the Shark 45 plans. But are the other changes?

Are there other pictures of this Shark with the bubble canopy? I'd like to see some more views of it.

Far better looking the the Jetco Shark, I'd like plans too.

You don't need a current PAMPA directory. If you have an old one 97-02 or so, you can still get Lew's telephone number. It hasn't changed. He's the one that can tell you how to build the +10% version of the Shark. I used to call him up pretty regularly when I was building my copy of the .45 version. Lew's a very nice individual to talk to, and he would be willing to help you however he can. He consulted on the plans for the RSM version and says that they actually got the verion's moments right! And, of couse he signed my RSM kit box and plans too. I ordered it from his hobby business he still operates out of his house. Good luck on getting the info you need to build the +10% version.

My Dad built a large Shark in 1969. It was a follow on to his famous AMA 68, which was a jet style Shark kit with minimal modification outside of it's looks.

The large Shark is called Pacific Jet and has a 61 inch span with a 14 inch root chord with flaps, 9 inch tip chord at end of rib bay with flaps. The span is unequal length, inboard 26 1/2inches to the end of the rib bays, 26 on the outboard.

Fuselage has a total length of 45 1/2 inches with a 11 3/4 inch nose moment and a 17 inch tail moment.It is powered by a Super Tigre 46.
These dimensions may help you as I think it was built to a specific Shark design. The wing was cut from a tip/root template that I am in search of now. I think Bill Rutherford made the template. I'll get more info.

I just talked to my Dad about the origins of the large Shark. It is indeed a 10% larger airplane with all the dimensions larger, but some not necessarilly 10%. However it is not built from a drawn plan. It was built from information from conversations with Lew and drawn right on the balsa instead of on paper! He mentions that the wing had extra rib bays, I don't have a Shark plan here but I am going to compare them as my curiosity is killing me. The fuselage length was arrived at by using a 42X3 inch piece of sheet. The undercut at the rear was added.
