As received, all the photos were under 400 pixels wide, as I recall. My guess is that shooting at minimum quality is not the best way to go, and they're still not under 50kb to post here. I cropped some of them, bumped them all up to 500 pixels wide, and then compressed. I looked at rotating a couple of these, but ended up not doing it. I haven't figured out how to set my camera for different quality levels yet, but it must be capable, if only I was. But I wanted to go to Clovis, and couldn't swing it, so wanted to see the pictures Mike took. Steve (I hate reading directions) Helmick

I use the software that comes with MS Office, called Photo Editor. It is very easy to use to scale pictures down.

I alway shoot at the highest resolution, then scale it down either by Pixel or Percentage, then save it at 50% compression before putting it on the web.

This way you can always go back to the original. If you keep rescales a JPG image more that once and save over and over, if will loose more resolution and the quality will be blurred. This is bacause JPG is a non-deterministic algorithm or non-loss-less compression. Even if you resave it as 100% compression, it will loose a little every time. This it why you should alway save the original JPG picture from your camera at the best quality.

Hmm, my camera software saves in .tiff ???

The pictures are saved from the camera (ah HP job) at either 1792 pixels across or at the highest resoluction at over 3000 pixels in .tiff format. I resize the images to usually 600 pixels across and use .jpeg at about about 80% (20% compression) and the pics are usually under 50k.

Can you tell us about the Corsair and Bearcat in the photos?

The Corsair is from Kirk Mullinex and is his own design. It is powered by a PA65 with pipe. Marine training squadron paint scheme, it flies very well. Bob Whitely too flew it in the officials, " ...'cause it flies good...".

The Rabe Bearcat is the one Keith Trostle keeps everyone on there toes with, beating up the western contests with many Classic/Expert wins. It has an RO Jett 51 with a rear exhaust muffler. The paint scheme is scale as well as the look, Al Williams' famous Gulfhawk IV, one of two civilian Bearcats built by the Grumman factory.

I also use & like MS Photo Editor. Several breakthroughs were finding the buttons to access the compression zipper, and the "resize" option, thanks to several good folks here at SSW.

Mike, the Victory plans are available at Flying Models. There is a short and a long tail moment version. OTS models are great for ballparks and schoolyards. Steve

That Victory has a Fox 59 with no muffler. Fly it at any site you want to lose! LOUD, VERY LOUD!!!
