LOTS of Huntersville Pictures

Here are some pictures from Huntersville.
After I got them all sized etc I did not feel like trying to figure out how to do a picture then a "tag line" so I just put them in hodge podge, can answer questions if someone wants to know what something is etc.

In looking at those photos, I noticed the White Oriental with the black, red and gold trim has strange marks on the tip of the rudder, the top of the canopy and just behind the spinner and a rash on the outboard tip. What are those caused by?? Heh, heh.

Ty, I would venture to guess a "power on" inverted landing.
Amazing that the prop suffered no more damage than it did!

I think that Oriental ended up in the garbage can by the end of the weekend. It looked severely crumpled

Yep, but the stab/elevator and flaps were recycled. Engine still runs fine. All hardware, tank, wheels are ready for the next, if ever, Oriental.

Actually Bill, it was a dead stick landing because the engine suddenly went lean and died. Seems the needle valve vibrated to the lean position. Got to really lock those ST type lock nuts.

That is Robby Gruber's Dreadnought.

It is a foam wing short kit (i guess short kit, it is foam wing) from Randy Smith.

It has a PA61, Robby runs a Bolly 12 X 4 prop dont know pipe length.

Great plane, great flying plane and he flies it VERY well.

Not sure what Robbie uses for power but probably a PA61 for FAI.

Note the FAI Inspection sticker on the right wing.

He won expert with this one.

What are the two planes covered in clear with blue tips? They look like good stunt trainers....?

Clayton Smith designed these. The big one (maybe both??) are called Taosake. (sp)
Clayton flies it in Advanced.

That's Marshall Busby's.He also has a Cavalier painted very similar.

Yep... Busby's own design profile "Roadkill" Flys really well. Aerotiger 36 for power. Won intermediate at last summers Nats.

Do you know if he has any plans?

Also the upright engine "Thunderbird" Iv'e got to get that plane finished--Its been framed up for, uhhh, yea many years. You inspired me to get back into the model shop. Ahh, summer flying and stuff. Smell of Fall is in the air--time to hit the balsa and sandpaper.

Those are some fine looking planes! Unlike so many planes I have seen on here, the builders obviously understood how to design the scheme so that it properly accentuates the lines of the plane. I noticed several with the basic white paint with stripes along the fuselage and leading edges. This is the proper way to do a job and they are to be commended for it.

The only really correct paint scheme for your plane is the one you like.
