Lead-out wire.

Hi all. Has anyone tried to use the multistrand picture hanging wire for lead-outs? I have to either order everything I need or find substitutes and I saw the wire and was wondering if it would work.

It's to soft. you'll have bad things happen to your plane and your attiude.

GO TO RSM and get there lead out wire kit, comes in 6'&12'

It will also work harden after use and become brittle and break. Not a good idea.

You might be able to buy Sevenstrand cable at your neighborhood fishing tackle shop, if you have one. You want the uncoated type, and you want it to be about .027", but unfortunately, they rate it in pound/kilo test. It's stainless steel, tho. The picture hanging cable is ok for temporary duty as motorcycle throttle cable, but it won't last as long as the real deal. Steve

Coated cable leader material works fine. I use 80 lb test.

oh well....it was a thought. Thanks for the tip on fishing leader though.

I strongly suggest you buy bellcrank/leadout assemblies from Tom Morris. They are cheap and well made. I use them in my airplanes without worrying about their strength security or durability.
