Nose Shaping Tool

He is a hint someone might find useful. With a square block of hardwood with the wood grain the same direction of your motor and slightly larger than the spinner you are going to use, cut off a piece from 1" to 1 1/2" long. Drill a hole centered on the block that will fit your motor shaft. Then drill the hole larger on one end to big enough for a nut and driver to tighten it. Then chuck the block in your lathe and turn it to the back portion of your spinner. When you get ready to carve your fuselage nose bolt it on your motor. You won't
need to use a spinner.

And if you glue sandpaper to the back of it you can turn it and get a perfect fit for the spinner to nose.

I have some old left-over spinner backplates used for the same purpose. I cut out a spinner ring of 1/32 plywood. Then it is tack glued (with 1/32 shims in between) to the dummy backplate. This assembly is mounted to the crankshaft and the cowl built out to meet it. You can also put some sandpaper in between and sand the nose to fit, then add the ring. Either way, a perfect fit.

Yep, using the spinner back plate has been around since the 50's. Some even have an old spinner just for this purpose.

I used a borrowed spinner. I might give it back, now that I have several starter-mangled spinners to use.

Ty, How did you know?? LOL!! Aaron, and I, did bust up enough spinners trying to learn "Precision Aerobatics" to have one on hand for about every application.
Amazind what a tiny ball peen hammer can do if you don't intend on flying the spinner.
