1/2-A Stunters

I would like to compile a list of plans available for 1/2-A stunt, like using all those obsolete Cox TD 048 engines.

If you have a favorite which flies well, I would appreciate names... and please, no profiles!

I am trying to get our club interested in some 1/2-A stunt.

I went through some old pics this morning. Here they are.

#1 1972 Dick Mathis Pinto and my F5 fredom fighter. It was heavy 16 oz but had 2 second place finishes at the Nats 1979 and 1982.

#2 A fiat G91. This had a must stunt type airfoil. It would turn on a dime but would not penetrate the air.

#3 stage 2 fredom fighter 1980. This was built for the Flying Models article. I gave this one to Bob Hunt. It had a tank that was to small and was not able to compete.

#4 1976 Genesis 1/2A red and black. I have no recollection of the outcome of this one.

#5 This is the handle I still use. LOOK NO STINKIN CABLES. It has a 2.5" spacing, the lines are .008 and are 45" long.

Props are 5.5/4" tornado or grey cox props. Fuel is 10% Hi compression head. no 2/4/2/ just all out.

So when can I drag you out flying again? I have a .19 diesel on my Flite Streak, and the .061 MP-Jet diesel on the P-51, plus the ever present Baby Clown with PAW 55.

I plan to be at Whittier tomorrow, but can't play on Sunday this week.

I guess the lineage goes brain fart to old fart and old fart to senior moment right? It seems the worse things get the nicer the terms used it get. Sounds like a politician’s motto there.

About the same time, Lou Wolgast did a 1/2A Mirage (MAN?) and Frank McMillan did 3 li'l ones, one an F-5 look-alike, also possibly in MAN. I have Jim Lee's plans for his Mini-Mine, which won Nats 1/2A in late 70's/ early 80's. (It's a foamie.)
