Bill Calkins (CLFlyer on this forum) modified a Sig Fazer a couple years ago. Bill had some luck with it prior to losing it due to a bad engine run. Perhaps Bill can give you some advice on the conversion.

#6 source Some details on Ivan's Fazer:
- LA-46 with FP backplate and NVA
(I removed that ugly blue paint with glass bead)
- 12-5 BY&O prop
- 6oz clunk tank
- muffler pressure.
- 10% nitro, 11% klotz, 11% castor
Changes from stock:
-reduce the flap chord by 1" as suggested by Big Art
-Carbon Matte between the fuse and doublers
-Replaced the LE sheeting with lighter wood.
AUW is 48.5 ounces

#7 sourceGosh, I hate to risk an opinion counter to Floyd's. But I have seen a stock FAZER fly on lines, and they do have potential to be a great profile, IMO. It needs the power of the .46LA, maybe more. The one I saw had a K&B .40S (#4055). And like I said, it had the stock ailerons turned into flaps. It looked very much like it could be coaxed into Bi-Slob-like maneuvering, if it was setup to do that (a lot of engine offset, extra tip weight and more control travel). It would also be very possible to stretch the wing a bit, stretch & push the tailplane back, stiffen the fuselage and have a profile that would work with a .60. Also happens to be a very nice kit and a bargain at the normal street price of around $56. I think it would be a wonderful engine test vehicle.

I just think if a man is going to go and make an RC plane into a CL plane, why bother with something that is already kissing-cousin close to so many CL designs. If I were to make that kind of effort I would choose something just the tadliest bit more different.
I would tend to agree with you overall especially on the subject of price. SIG has never seen fit to scalp the modelers like some do. For the kind of kale they beg you can buy the SIG kit, a couple of rolls of covering and still be in under the price of the other makers' kits.
That is two good things I have seen on prices today, the other being the prices Pampa wants for publications.

The landing gear provided by SIG for the Fazer kit is ideal to use on the Banshee or Skyray as suggested by Brett Buck.

#9 sourceDavid Hoover has a Fazer fitted out for C/L, and it seems to fly fine. I've seen him with it at the field a time or two, and didn't notice any problems. He might chime in here with some further detail...

the designer Mike Pratt talks about the fazer as a control line strunter. Can't get any better than the designer.
