So let me get this straight: you blokes fly Jetex *INDOORS*?! Hack, cough, gasp, *wheeze*. I can't help but notice the blue haze which permeates the pictures. You are definitely a wild and crazy bunch! Jetex is hard enough without banging into walls...

Incidentally, how have the Rapier motors been received by the NAR and FAI Competition Rocketry folks? I imagine they'd make great FF Boost and Rocket Glider motors, or for altitude attempts. But the things have pyrotechnic fuses, right, instead of electrical? What impulse classes are they in?

There has been no reception, because there is nothing to receive. They are simply not available here. I have a friend who has been trying to import them for several years without success. The reason is simply that the production capacity cannot meet the demand for Europe, let alone export to the US. They are made by Dr. Jan Zigmund in the Czech Republic, and are hand-built. I've met him at the last two World Champs, and he is a very nice fellow. But he cannot produce enough of them yet to have any real impact. They are very popular in Europe and particularly in England, among both Spacemodelers and Aeromodelers. SAMS sells them, and as far as I know, the only way to get them is to order them from SAMS and have them shipped over. I have not actually done this, just my guess. They are wonderful motors--vastly superior to Jetex in performance and cost. I got some samples from my would-be importer friend and have flown them in simple models with great success. I'm interested in drafting rules for them (they are not legal in AMA Jetex) and writing some articles for the press to promote them, but without a solid source of supply, there is no point. So as far as the United States goes, they don't really exist. There is great interest among those few who know about them, but without a supply there is no progress.
