I have been trying to figure out how to reduce my picture size to be able to post photos. Well, I finally got it figured out and although these photos are late, I felt it was still important to put them on here.

What's the top plane (Red and White)?

The plane belonged to Frank Carlisle and I am not sure if this is his own designe or a derivative of the Legacy.

Frank has always referred to it as a Legacy, so I would guess that is what it is.

What is that neat muffer on the second plane(white and blue), and where can I get one?

Another question(I'm still a beginner at age 58):
Will it be possible to run an exhaust pipe(like automobiles) all the way back to the tail of of the plane, in order to keep the wastes, oil etc., away from the airplane finish?

I like the Shark 45 (with the neat exhaust muffler/tube/gizmo), but I really love the P-51 VooDoo. I am familiar with the Reno Racer of that name. What is the basis for this design, and who did it? Cool! And I officially don't like purples. Nice to see pictures of some of these guys...Randy Ryan, I expect, with his Gladiator. Who else can we ID? Steve

PS: Most these pics could have been drastically reduced by cropping first, without losing anything important. My sequence of events, after they are saved to the computer: 1) Rename 2) Crop 3) Resize
4) Compress 5) Save To (permanent file location).

I save photos first to a desktop file called Test Photos. Then I rename them, giving the title as much data as I know...design, builder & power, in that order. I resize to 600 pixel width from a larger one, or up to 500 pixels from a smaller one, and add % to the title. Not sure that's the best thing to do yet. When I compress, I add %% to the title, and go back and forth to check the read on the file size. Usually, when I get the size under 50kb, I delete the other versions, but not until then. And I use MS Photo Editor. I'm still learning, and that's as fancy as I get, for now. I hope it helps somebody, like Warren Wagner, Tony da Bagman, Cyberflyer and others have helped me. I took a class in COBOL in '69 or '70.

Based on past readings running a long extension off the muffler will increase the backpressure making the engine run hotter. Can you do it would depend on the plane engine and muffler setup. Haven't tried it but understand that a 4 stroke is more tolerant than a 2 stroke to this. Didn't someone do this with a pipe successfully?

That is a custom muffler made for Larry Robertson by Scott Dinger of southern California. Scott is in the PAMPA directory.

At the risk of repeating myself, shipping pixels around the internet and storing them on Len's server when they don't materially contribute to the presentation of the subject (i.e. an expanse of the parking lot in the background) is a waste of server space and bandwidth, not to mention download time. Learning to crop your images down to just what you want others to see and scaling the result down to 500 pixels makes a more readable window and a cleaner, faster presentation. You can probably end up with a larger image of the actual model and a smaller file if you crop first, scale later. And text is more readable the narrower the column is. Which is why newspapers and magazines format text in 3-5 word columns. Stuff a 600-800 pixel wide image in your post and the text stretchs out to the point it's a strain to read the copy. 500 pixels is plenty for imagery and I'd talk about using tables to narrow the copy, but that would just get ignored.
