CoverLite

Has anyone seen the new product from coverite called CoverLite? Described as "iron-on tissue covering". One ounce per square yard. Sealed with a "resin compound". Irons on with Balsarite. Paintable with "most model paints". Looks kind of spendy, but interesting.

I saw it in a TOW-er catalog a month or two back. One ounce per square yard doesn't sound that light considering that you have to add goo to stick it down with. Check out MicaFilm instead. Danny Dirty did an article in PAMPA about covering with films, and he is a big fan of MicaFilm, and sticks it down with 3M #77 spray. It is about the same weight as Japanese Tissue with clear dope, but is tough like nylon, looks like silkspan, comes in limited colors. Use $Kote, tape, etc, for decorations. Steve

I too, like MicaFilm. I used the pre-primed stuff (fiber side out) ironed on with film BalsaRite on a Skyray 35 then finished with normal dope.

I used clear and transparent red on rubber powered stick and tissue job - looks good after many, many years.

Nice feature with the pre-primed is it is opaque - nice for the lighter colors.

Yep, I have used Micafilm on a couple of small RC planes in the past and the strength was incredible. You could use the wings like baseball bats. I haven't noticed it for sale in a while, tho.
