ST 61RF

Is an ST 61RF rear exhaust powerplant a suitable powerplant for a PA plane? I found a hobby shop closing out its inventory for 33% of list price on all items. Picked up a Brodak Nobler, Jr Flite Streak, Fox 35, epoxy, fiberglass and bunch of hardware and fuel tubing to last a lifetime.

That motor intrigues me and will probably still be there next weekend. What do you know about pertaining to PA and/ should I forget it?

Hi Bob; In this case what does ST stand for ? Stalker? , or Super Tiger. I know Stalker well , and I wasn't aware of Supertiger having rear exhaust engines around . The letters R.F. sound like O.S. model designations. Keith V.

ST is Super Tiger.

I did a Google search for Super Tigre .61 RF and of course it found stuff with ST's and .61's and RF's. There is an OS .61 RF. This is copied and pasted from one website: OS MAX 61 RF "Hanno Special"
It would be WAY heavy, probably 18 oz. or more. Fugedaboudit. Steve

BOB measure your car and see how big a wing you can get in it. 58”-62” then you can build anything in that range. Sorry to be blunt BUT DANG IT build a plane like a Super Chief, Shark, SV-11, Cardinal.…your to good a flyer not to enjoy what’s out there.

Hi again Bob; I just had a flash back and I,m sure I remember R.C. pylon racers using rear exhaust Super Tigres in their formula 1's. they had them rebuilt by Terry Prather and they were the cats meow' called them "Terry-Tigres".Maybe 15 or more years ago. drove them at very high rpm's. As I remember, it's an old pattern engine. Hmm, 22,000 rpm with 1.5 pitch prop?

I stand corrected. It is probably an OS engine. I remember it is in a black box. Anyway I thought it was quite heavy. and a 61 is probablly too much power for me to handle and also as scott says a large plane that might not fit in my pickup and probably the Lancair as well.
