Favorite fuel for ST .46?

Assuming it's a stock engine, 10 or 15% nitro, 20-22% oil, 50/50 castor synthetic. Don't run straight castor because the ring tends to stick in the groove.

Yep,
What he said. An all castor fuel will give you fits in the ST46 and stuck rings will lead to broken rings eventually.
P.S. (I love the sound of a ST46 in the morning), no others sound like it.

Your going to Love your Tigre 46! Ive got one Ive burned over 25 gallons thru ( Byron 10% 22%oil 1/2 and 1/2)and the best part is you never have to change the needle setting. Arguably one of the best motors made. Choke it twice, walk it thru compression twice and one flip starts. I own at least 8 with two having been done by George Aldrige and my favorite ones are dead stock. Youre going to have some fun for sure!

None - haven't flipped one over since about 1987! But, when I was, 12-6 Bolly (with pitches anywhere from around 5.25-5.5, with maybe +.3 progressive at the tips), cleaned-up 12-6 Rev-Up, cleaned-up 12-5W Rev-up. It will safely spin a 13-6 if you are careful with the needle - although I don't think this is ideal for performance. I've even run Rev-Up 13-5's.

I used a .173 venturi (vice .159 stock) and this seemed to be a good compromise.

BTW, nitro is its friend.

Thanks for posting the question. I too have a ST 46 that I never ran. Bought it at Toledo when I didn't know what I was doing. Not that I know more now, but I noticed that the mounting holes were drilled out. I did post a wanted ad in the classified, but no luck. Jerry T suggested using bigger screws or washers, but I didn't feel comfortable with that idea, so I packed it up and shipped it to Tom Lay. Hopefully he will help me out as to what to do. Also might go ahead and have him rework it. Making a good motor better is always a plus for me. Not sure what I will put it on, but it is nice to have more choices.
