We have a winner!

With the year coming to a close I have taken the time to review some of the funniest and most outrageous comments made on this board. And while there is still time this year for any number of you to shoot yourself in the foot, I am declaring this informal and unannounced competition to be over.

Because, in the "AMA membership renewal" thread, we come across this gem:

Bob Hunt gave a wonderful explanation of the change in content in MA...very rational and, I am sure, difficult for Bob to reduce controline coverage. Writing him probably won't sway folks...writing Dave Brown and the higher-ups might.

But a veiled threat about quitting won't go real far toward changing many minds.

Now is that last sentence in the quoted text great or what? Some people, most of them pretty sick puppies in my mind, think I am capable of coming up with some mildly funny stuff once or twice a month. But I can tell you without fear of contradiction this is a statement so monstrously funny I could never hope to equal it.

I liked Brett telling Al that his reply was "horsecrap".

We prefer the term "horsepoopy", or simply "poop", as in "you are full of poop".

My favorite personal term is "that's just poopy".

I enjoyed the fabricated story some clown sent in awhile back about fending off his attacker with a pencil and all the replies after. Good comedy.

I do indeed (sometimes) have a weird sense of humor.

But not this time.

Remember back when there was first a letter-writing campaign to Tom Morris, the purpose of which was to get my Bad Boy Stunt column kicked out of Stunt News? That deal had Peabody's fingerprints all over it.

And then we were treated to the totally nonsensical petition, a document which included the not-so-veiled threat to resign from PAMPA, designed to accomplish the same purpose. This petition, purported to, and presented as, having the signatures of "over 150 members of PAMPA," when by actual count it only had 31 or 32 signatures, also had Peabody's fingerprints all over it.

On the other hand, Rich makes a point. Such things do not change people's minds, as he discovered when the PAMPA Executive Council voted unanimously to retain existing policy when it came to Stunt News content.

So when some of us either literally or figuratively roll our eyes whenever Rich pipes up, one shouldn't be too harsh in judging those of us who have trouble taking him seriously.

Comedy or tragedy, indeed.

I'm apparently too dense to see the humor.

Humorous stuff (to a clod like me) included someone coining an expression like "tarting up your ship"..

You don't have a weird sense of humor, your humor is weird. Having met Mr. Peabody, I can understand your feelings all the more. I agree with you.

I for one read your column first and am a fan. PAMPA's editorial policy is right on. You may not "cross the line" but you do have a way of bending it once it a while. I had the experience of meeting Mr. Peabody at the Nats this year. Interesting, to say the least!

Don't know if I qualify as an entrant for the "Winner" trophy you seem to be proposing but I certainly seem to do a wonderful job of shooting myself in the foot. My brother's favorite expression is "Most wounds are self inflicted" So true.

That photo of you in the "stunt underwear" reminded me of an old joke. The punch line was "Do you think we should wear the potatoes in front?"

Dan, Thanks for calling tonight to offer me the Super Tigre. Also, for bringing me back to this thread, in which I really wasn't too interested, because I really wasn't sure which line above you considered to be the last sentance in the quote. Is it "Peabody"? Or is it "See Ya"? Just reading either one has me ROFLMAO, so you can see my consternation. Steve
