FOURM USE

HAY..I just learned that WE as members have a "IN BOX"! How kool is that. So of all you people that have sent me messages I just found them..............gee I feel like a "day a dollar short".
I looked at the manual they give you when your born, and Sure enought I found "SSW IN BOX" on page 29,632.

Yup. Click the "user_menu" at the top and then the "in box" for your messages. Click on the appropriate first letter to find the person to whom you wish to send a message and send away. Whenever you enter the forum, there should be a flag at the top saying you have a message "if you do have one".

So, if you are having trouble with someone's e-mail or want to send a private message, use the private message system.

Hey Len,

Would it be possible to add a link to the inbox on the menu bar across the top of the forum that shows up when someone logs in. Like the Login Logout links that switch when you're logged in or not.

If you haven't already done so change your preferences so you will be notified by email whenever a new message is left in your box.

All this fancy stuff, und still no Spell Check for Scotty! I do find the new email system to be really impossible. I don't feel like filling out any data for MS OutCast or whatever their latest trick deal is. It would be wonderful if everybody would at least put their city, state and country of residence in their profile. Also, how can these folks all claim to belong to the "normal" group? I know better. This would be a nice feature, but unless you write your own program (anybody want to put together a complete spell list, etc.?) there is a royalty fee for using someone else's. And trying to hack the program to insert the spell checker is a little difficult. I am trying to avoid becoming a programmer

I don't understand this one. I can set up e-mail either of two ways. One is that it goes through the forum and comes from clstunt.com. Some of you have spam eliminators that then reject this as spam.

The other is what I did which is to have it use your own e-mail client. When I click on you e-mail icon, for instance, it brings up my e-mail box (I do use Outlook Express although I have Outlook as well) with the your address filled in ready for me to add the message and send. So there shouldn't be anything for you to fill out, or forcing you to use any program other than what you already set up for yourself. If there is, I would like to know.

Actually, I want everyone to put their real name, city and State (or country) in their profile so that we know who they are. There are a few hold outs, but most have complied.

I thought the board was done on a linux flavor. Can't you guys just use aspell? I'm pretty sure it's GPL.

I am totally unfamiliar with aspell. We are running on a unix machine, but using cgi at the moment. This will soon change (If I can get time to finish the mods) to php. The problem, as I understand it, is getting one to talk to the other. I had inquired of the software's author and he mentioned the cost, etc. of integrating. He didn't have a quick (or even not so quick) answer to get around this. If you have ideas, I am open.

(Of course, you can create on yoru word processor and then cut and paste, or you can add a spell checker to Internet Explorer as another option.)

cgi doesn't matter. Is the board software straight Unix or a version of Linux?

This is just an example and information including many tools for just what we're talking about...if the board software is Linux. I suspect you could download the source code and compile it to work with the various flavors of Unix, too. But I'm not much in the mood to scour source code just now.

It was just a thought.

I generally compose in a work processor and just past it in.

Actually one of the reasons I like to read Scott's posts is the creative way he finds to spell. It sometimes is like a brain teaser to figure it out. I wouldn't give much hope that any known spell checker could really cope with his spelling!!

OHHHHH ALAN AND STEVE. I guess I'll write everything on WORD then Copy it to this Sight!

I can take it. Spelling the English language is somewhat difficult for me. Since my mini stroke Four years ago sometime I become very dyslexic. I don’t mind the riding in get IT’S OK.
As for Spelling “HILLSBORO” STEVE this is the right way not “bough”. OH Steve when are you going the Fly a contest!!! Have you flown the beginner pattern yet?

Hmm, that's interesting because we are not using any MS software on the forum. That has got to be coming from your computer. It is supposed to merely bring up your e-mail client, whatever your are using, and simply put the address in the proper line ready for you to create, just as if you had clicked on someone's name in your address book. Maybe we need to address this in the support forum.

Steve;

This is a function of the setup on your PC, not the board.

There are a standard set of HTML commands that interact with your browser. When you click on the email command, an instruction is passed back to your browser to bring up your email program. Your browser is passing along the command to bring up MS Passport. This may be because your browser is configured to make MS Passport the default email program. If you can change this default to your email program of choice, you will have this problem licked.

I don't know what browser or version you are using. Email me directly, and I will try to work you through it.

CHecked mine and had a message from Sept. in there. Now I have to remember to check it on an hourly basis just like I do the forums..

This post has alerted me to the existence of the inbox too.

My apologies to those who put messages there back to May that I haven't answered. I just didn't know they were there. That's fixed.

As for spell checkers:
