MAAC

I put a MAAC sticker on my latest plane. Do I need to clear dope it? Will it handle dope?
Any suggestions?

My suggestions are to clear coat anything you put on your plane, unless you want easy removal. At the FAI trials everyone had to put an FAI weight sticker on their planes after the weigh in. Nobody clear coated those because off they came right after the competition. (At least Matt's did. And when the qualifiers enter the Worlds next year, they get a new one.)

So, how much do you desire that it remain on your plane?

And if there is any doubt that dope might attack it (such as decals) put a couple of light mist coats on first. Then go easy on the thinner as you get a little build-up. It is the thinner that reacts to these things, not the dope itself, so you want the thinner to be able to burn itself off rather quickly.

And don't use retarder in the overcoats.
