Ding, Ding, Ding!!..... and a question

A revelation occured yesterday afternoon!
Aaron was over and we were building, watching football, etc., and he said he liked the USA-1 better the first time he flew it. I had noticed that the turn had been affected. Not bad but a little *smoother* turn the last time he flew it.
I realized I had switched to the 3 blade CF prop from a 2 blade wood.
This affected the feel of the turn. Something I knew, but had not even entered into the equation!
I love the way it flies with this prop, but I would like to get back the turn, too!
I can add tail weight, the handle is about as wide as it can be, I can change the elevator ratio, and...........?

What's the difference in diameter between the two propellers?

And pitch?

Both are 12", the two bld was 4 3/4 pitch, the 3 bld is 4 1/2.
The 3 bld cf is more efficient, handled the wind very well at the last contest. The plane really LOCKS on the bottoms, has no problems tracking in manuvers, and grooves really good upright and inverted. But I would like to trim a little more turn into it!

You mention that you can adjust elevators, does it climb while turning, or does it pivot square on the cg? If it is climging a bit (too much flap) crank in a little more elvator (you have wide handle spacing anyway). You can always try this to see what happens anyway. With any adjustment it is always good to try a little adjustment one way and the other just to see what happens. If it is pivoting correctly, you can also try moving the cg back a little. This will, also, add sensitivity, but since you have a wide handle spacing, again there is room for narrowing this.

Just try one thing at a time just to see what it does. Does it help? Does it hurt? If it hurts, where? Work from there and always make sure you can get back to "square one."

The bad thing is when you need to make adjustments, but can't.
