Balsaright alternatives

over the years I've heard of and in some cases used heat activated alternatives to balsaright:

Balsaloc (I think this is water soluable)

HIPEC fabric cement (used for full size fabric covered airplanes and dacron covering, works well with silk haven't tried it with anything else)

Stits Poly-tac cement (also used for full size fabric covered airplanes)

thinned white glue (works very well attaching balsa to foam cores! Just put a coat of thinned white glue on the foam and on the balsa, let dry, iron the balsa into place)

Has anyone else tried alternatives to Balsaright? How well did they work?

SIG's "Stix-It," or however they spell it, seems to work the same as Balsarite.

That 3M 77 Spray Adhesive has been used several times in adhering Micafilm to many of my models. Just a light coat is required.

It also must be noted that long ago I quit trying to create suitable laps with Micafilm. Instead, panels of Micafilm are *completely* bordered on all sides with MonoKote.

Balsaloc works well....it is a water based product as you said, it has a good ahesion with most material too.. I used it with SIG Koverall and it worked beautifully

I've used lots of the Stits product on full size, and it's pretty thick. Too heavy and gloppy for model use.

You can thin poly tack with their thinner. Never had to on a real plane, but I have with models when I was a kid and it worked really well. Their thin cloth, designed for ultralights, works well on larger models. Not too bad to fill, but if you are really going for a top notch finish, the weight would kill you.
