Dear Ron,

Your question depends on many things. Most of it deals with what kind of controls you wish to have. 4 inch bellcranks give you slow action controls and possibly a more stable ship which takes more movement of the handle to get the aircraft to maneuver. A 3 inch bellcrank is faster and takes less movement of the handle to maneuver the ship as long as the control setup inside the aircraft is same from bellcrank to flap horn and flap horn to elevator with both the 4 and 3 inch bellcranks. You do not need 1/8 inch control horns with the Genesis 35. It is a not a large ship that requires the larger wire diameter. My suggestion is to follow Bob Hunt's original plans and setup for the Genesis 35 and work from there. I would make the elevator adjustable though so as to be able to vary the elevator throw to make the ship quicker or slower in the turn. Again your call.

My blush is that Bob would recommend a 4" bellcrank and 3/32" horns......they are not mutually exclusive.

Since returning to the hobby a few years ago, I have been flying 35 size planes with 3 inch bellcranks and 3/32 horns. This does give you a quicker control set up. That being said, on my newest plane, I decided to try a 4 inch bellcrank and adjustable 3/32 inch elevator
horn.

As far as 35 S set up, I have five engines at various stages of rework. My best advice is to start out with about a .281 Venturi with the Supertiger needle valve, which is .155 in diameter. If you use the stock OS, which I believe is .135 in diameter, go with a .265 to .270 Venturi. Also, a big key on these engines is to use 25-29% all caster fuel.

As for prop selection, I have been using the old 10/6 extra wide blade rev up props. I've also used Zinger 10/6 extra wide and the B Y & O 10/5 and 10/6 with good success. For glow plugs, I've used Sig, Thunderbolt, and Glow Devil idle bar plugs with equal success.

Good luck on your Genesis 35!

Ron, you have split your question up by posting a second time after only giving it five hours, the first one being only midnight, Saturday evening, central standard time. Perhaps you aren't aware of time differences, but responses will come.

In order to try to keep answers together, I am going to lock this post down and let the rest of the answers be given to your original post.
