11 X 5 three blade prop

Who makes one with wide blades similar to the old Top Flite?

We need to get someone to make a mold of the old Tornado 3 blade props and mold them in CF for a decent price. I use the Bolly and Eather 3 blades for the PAMPA planes (.51-.61, especially the pipe planes), but a nice lower cost, smaller, 3 blade for Classic and profiles would be nice!! We just need someone who doesn't need to make a living selling props, etc., to make some. Don't misinterpret this, I am NOT complaining about the price of new big 3 blade props from the major manufacturers, just saying we need an alternative source for some smaller CF 3 blades.
What y'all think?

Try the Master Airscrew. They pitch at lower than stated and work well for stunt. The 12 x 6 is really a 12 x 4.5. Cut it down to 11".

I believe you can "heat" them to pitch like a Bolly/Eather. (??)

Hey Bill,

Willis Swindell has been using the MA three blades also. He found that the 11x7 pitches out at about an 11x5, if my memory is correct. Cut down to 10" and you might have a good prop for an Ares size job. We tried the 11x7 on my back up Time machine 40, but the prop was too much for the FP-35 in that job without cutting it down some, we ended up putting it back on his Pathfinder.....

My guess is that the current prices for C-F props is probably pretty decent as is. There is a lot of handwork in C-F layup--not to mention the making of the molds etc. in the first place.

I wonder what kind of product liability insurance these manufacturers have. If someone went into the prop making business today as a cottage industry it could get nasty if one of them disintegrates and causes injury and your'unprotected'

Like I said, I'm not really complaining about the big 3 blds. but I, of course, would like for them to be cheaper! LOL!!
I have cast/molded other things and do realize the work involved.
I would just like to see someone bring out some smaller 3 blds. at a less expensive price. I see some props in the $20-$25 range and others in the $35-$40 range. Same size and quality. The more expensive ones are from "Companies" while the less expensive ones are from "cottage industries". Am I making sense? When retirement rolls around, props will be one of my priorities, but that is about 5 or so years away.
