Norvell 15

While back SIG had a combo with Norvell 15 and Akro kit. I built the wing without cutting off the outboard panels as the instructions said. The span of the finished wing was right at 75% of the wingspan of an Olympic, plans from Brodak kit. So I took the plans and had them copied at 75% and built this profile 15 size Olympic.
2 oz tank, 8x6 Zinger, .012x52', 33.5 oz., no flaps but still flys all maneuvers. Lots a fun..

What is your lap time with the Norvel 15 and 8 x 6 prop?

I just put a Norvel 15 on my Flightstreak ARF with an APC 8 x 4. I flew it on 54 ft. line and it still a little too fast. You must be going like a bat out of hell with an 8 X 6.

I didnt time my laps but its in the area of 5.2-5.4. I had problems previously trying to tame a Sport version of the Norvell 15, bushing engine. The Sig combo engine is the AME ball bearing model and I expected the same thing or worse. So I started with 9x3 and 8x4 props but couldnt get a good needle, either to slow or run away. Put on the 8x6 and bingo. Guess the higher pitch loaded the engine just the right amount to tame the run away tendency.
I was flying the sport engine on a 15 size Ukey. It was either to slow to stunt or fast like a combat ship. The AME with 8x6 prop worked better for me stunting than I ever got the sport engine to do.

Tried a bigger prop on my Norvel AME 15, and it slowed it down to a comfortable level. Fuel draw seems to be a problem in hard maneuver especially on bottom of the outsides.

What fuel setup did you used? I try both uniflow and muffler presure. I think on the AME version, that the venturi is still too big.

is this a mistake? 33.5 oz weight for a 15 size ship. It is beautiful though. Dennis
