Control Line on TV, well sort of..

Just saw a little comedy bit on the Red Green Show that used a little control-line plane and I heard Red mention 049. I wasn't sitting close enough to the TV to be able to see any real details but the plane looked a little like a Stuntman 23 or something similar. The flying lines looked like clothes line thickness! Not exactly Paul Walker and his B-17 type of footage but I guess it's a first step. Not sure which direction though!

OK. Where was the duct tape used on the plane?

Bob, I think in Canada, where the Red Green show comes from, they spell it "Duck" tape. Dan tells me that the term "Hoser" comes from the DCST members using a hunk of heater hose for a Chicken Stick. I'm not sure of either of these tidbits is factual. I bet Howard or Brett would know. Steve

"Duck" tape is a brand name of tape sold by Canadian Tire and I think I have seen it in Home Depot as well. Other than that, as far as I know, it has always been duct tape.

Wowee, they do sell it here in Bubba Land, USA in the local Wal-Mart. It has a duck on it even also too.!!

Seeing as how I live in Red Green's backyard, I can tell you that while there may be a brand called Duck, it's definitely plain old duct tape, as in "If it can't be done with duct tape, it ain't worth doin'...". Also, the term "Hoser" was invented (I think) by two other comedians known as Bob and Doug McKenzie (Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas) on the SCTV show. It refers to what you're doing when you're writing your name in the snow, usually after consuming "mass quantities" of Elsinore beer, or equivalent...

Every once in a while, the lead duck stops and the followers don't use the brakes fast enough. You use the Duct tape to hold their bent little bills in place till they hill.

I've got that RedGreen show on the computer here. He doesn't use duct tape, but figures he should have as he sticks a cut garbage can lid under the flyer of the airplane so he can stand still and the lid will do the pivoting. Well, the cut lid makes like an auger and cuts the guy into the ground. It's a funny bit and the show is a real hoot and is only on PBS.

The problem is, our local PBS channel had it on during prime time and used it for the fundraising drive. Then as soon as they got they're money they put it on at 2 in the morning and changed back to a bunch of liberal feldercarb during the day. Well, we won't get into politics. But if you have the VCR loaded, find the REDGREEN show on your local PBS station and tape it. You'll like it.

If I had a way that I could change the file from this weird program specific file to MPG I'd cut the CL section and paste it.

What format is it in???? Send it to me, I can usually convert most files.

Yeah, and here we get Mr. Bean and Stevie Ray Vaughn during the fund raisers, So they obviously know that people want to see this stuff.
My idea is to show the good stuff all the time, and show the political crap during the fund raisers, and let's see how much you raise.

I like the Red Green show. Its not one TV here anymore.

They dropped it here a couple of years back but it would still show up at fund raising time. I just happened to have PBS on a month ago and happily discovered they had put it back on as a regular program. A lot of viewers must have voted for it on the ballots they got when donating funds.

I hate to admit it...but The Red Green Show is a regular late night Saturday staple around here. The "Mans Prayer" is my favorite.
