65 ounce Legacy

After a year of on&off sanding I finally have the Legacy in color again. Due to my inadequate finishing skills it looks like I have turned what was a fairly light airframe into a porker. I am estimating the ready to fly weight to end up just under 65 ounces.

Whadda ya think should I just make a hanger queen out of it or is there hope that a 65 ounce Legacy will fly a somewhat respectable pattern?

I would imagine that that weight is real, real close to the average weight of a lot of them. Put an adequate powerplant into it and have fun......

This was taken just after I painted the red the first time, it looks almost the same now after sanding all the finish off and re-painting it. I messed up the original finish by assuming the red would cover better than it does. I had a mixture of white and silver under the red and It ended up blotchy and pretty ugly. This time the red went on over a white base and came out pretty good just heavy.

Fly it! Lots of .60 models weigh more than that. It will probably fly well, especially in Mariah, that famous Oklahoma wind.

As far as the Legacy kit see John Millers post "Re-posting the Legacy Review" in the Reviews section. I liked the kit well enough that I bought a second kit, plan to build it without all the mistakes I made in the first one.

Almost forgot.. Power is going to be a Stalker .61 rear exhaust.

My old Legacy weighed 63 oz with a Super Tigre 60 and it flew great. I have my new Legacy at the stage where I'm using Brodak Clear on the wood and final sanding. Its getting there. This one should be a little lighter with a ST60.

John, they aren't sold by anybody in the USA, at least officially. But they aren't difficult to buy from England, see the second link. I got it from the first link, which everyone should have in their bookmarks/favorites. :/ Steve
