Can you have a look at this post for the Thunderbird with the Trike Gear...Any ideas on the whereabouts of either the plane OR the Plan???

According to the magazine article which was written by Bob Palmer, the model was returned to the USA.

Yep, the Oct 1957 MAN article stated that they shipped the planes back as excess baggage and air freight and were recieved at home UNDAMAGED. Try that today. The cover photo has a caption, "Howard Bonner dn Bob Palmer back from barnstorming tour of South Africa. See page 10" I am assuming the photo on the coveer was taken in the USA, but have no proof. Has anyone asked Bob? He lives with his daughter in Montana or is it Wyoming? More than likely he will be at VSC 2004.

According to Dave, "who has the radial cowl version" the Trike plane was never taken "on tour" but was used at the 1956 nats.....
Anyone else got any info???

The radial cowl version is now in the hands of Ian Russell (Rustler) for its second restoration. Can anyone add anything on the subject of the models which were shipped back to the States?

Hello all

According to Bob him self, there was a short period of time in the US where if the model stopped at a specific spot then there were extra points. So the only way to do this is with breakes and 3 wheels. Which he did. The intent was to let the model roll to a stop but Bob was then a fair but fine competitor.

The concept did not last long.
