Today I flew the whole pattern for the first time!!!!!!

Guys,
What a great day! Floyd Layton came over (it is a 1 1/2 hour drive, one way) to do some C/L flying together. He coached me on doing the outside squares. We worked on them for 3 or 4 flights. I ended up crashing my RD-1 due to a nylon horn breaking (we think). So I brought out the Legacy 40 and flew a flight just working on the V8, hourglass, and clover. Floyd said that I was ready and that he would call out the pattern for me from inside the circle. We fueled it up and away I went. About 6:30 later I had done something that I wanted to do for 34 years. A special thanks to Floyd who drove 3 hours today to help me out. Thank you to all the others who have helped me too. Everybody I've met have been so helpful and considerate. yeah, what a day!

It's so KOOL when you hear someone say "I DID IT"
(the patteren). Keep it up, now your closer to beating "WALKER" then you were yesterday. Scott

Congratulations Crist! It takes a lot of work & a lot of glue to get to where you are! Now you can go for those elusive pattern points & join the rest of us in the never ending quest to actually fly the pattern correctly!

Congrats! That's a major accomplishment, sweaty palms and knees shaking I'll bet.

You've got one of the best judges in the Midwest coaching you, so you can't go wrong.

I can still remember the first full pattern I did in 1970. It was at a contest, and I had never finished a complete pattern previous, nor had even tried some of the maneuvers. On my second official I decided "what the heck", let's go for it, and I did. 31 years later I still remember, and you as well will probably never forget this date!

Now....Get Dave G. out there and have him get some patterns in!

Paul. My first patteren was at the Raider Round-up at Seattle 1998 I flew DON'S Powwow in Classic. I scored 457. After I flew I asked who the judges were, and do they know anything? Don McClave looked at me and said, "One of the guy's is Paul Walker. SO..... who is he. BOY did I get a story. And I did I feel small. Now it's called respect. Scott

When Dave G. is in town. I usually let him do a lot of flying....after seeing him fly once, I figured he could use the flight time! LOL! We do have a good time and I'm sure he has watched me improve over this past year. A few weeks ago I got out my RD-1 to work on the rest of the stunts, and when I flew it, it hinged badly. I had way too much tip weight on it. At least it gave me good line tension while I was learning. I kept thinking how did Dave ever get through the whole pattern with this thing? And he did it many times! There is a pretty good pilot under that broad smile of his!
