Big Wheel

Making a Brodak profile Tanager.

My grass field is very rough so, I'm thinking to use a single big wheel forward under the engine area. 3" dia. x 1/4" thick would be minimum I guess but, I'm having trouble finding one.

I'm considering making one from plywood with a brass hub.

Any help?

Don't know why you would want to go to one wheel. We use two 3 inch Dave Brown Lite Flite wheels on the grass gear. They weigh very nearly the same as his lite flite 2 inch wheels (same hub with light foam after that). They give better ground clearance and roll better if the grass needs mowing.

I have a Tanager, and really can't see a single wheel on that big a plane. I have 2 and a quarter inch rubber treaded wheels. I might try some lighter ones later, but have had no problem with a grass field. I just bend the two wheels inward and forward to get them raised up so not the clip the grass. Even so using a 11.5 prop.
